Touch (S2E8) Reunions

I was not prepared for this episode. I had heard Maria Bello wanted out of the show and was happy how it happens, but I had no idea it would be before the end of the season and it would happen in this way in this episode. I was sobbing. But let’s not jump ahead….

Amelia (Saxon Sharbino) is running through the desert [another dream sequence?].

Jake (David Mazouz) narrates, “Bodies at rest stay at rest, and bodies in motion stay in motion unless acted on by an outside force.”In this case she is stopped by Aster Corps security, and more specifically we see Tony Rigby (Adam Campbell). License plate on one vehicle 6Q49951. Tony tells Amelia she would have to run 1-1/2 days to reach civilization. Security takes her away.

Jake continues, “People, like objects, become set in their paths, embedded in a constrained reality. As we travel our path, the possible futures which were once infinite collapse down to one. One outcome. Unchangeable. Inescapable.”

There’s Kase! [Friend or foe?] Tony wants Kase (John Boyd) to give him data. Kase informs him the place is antiquated. Files fall out in front of Amelia. Amelia opens it and sees a man’s MRI study analysis. Patient #0001. This man, according to the report, has an abnormally enlarged amygdala on both sides of his brain and the volume of the white matter is bigger on the left side than e right. On the negative side, it also contains compromised features. His left inferior gyrus (important for language) is less developed and he has fewer connections to the right fusiform gyrus (which helps process faces). Amelia worries about his ultimate fate. She folds the paper and takes it. Tony tells Kase a new generator is on the way, but he needs results or else he is of “no use” to him [which I interpret as a death threat].

Patient #1

Kase apparently has a gambling problem [and debt]. Amelia retreats to the beautiful garden in her head. Jake continues: “We’re each on a path and sometimes those paths become inclined, pulled into each others’ orbits and collide.”

[Blue butterfly-I discovered today that my son with autism is using a blue butterfly icon for his log-on for Windows long before this show ever aired. I thought that was cool.]

Amelia screams to the universe for someone to help her.

Amelia calls out, “Please save me!” and Jake hears her. Outside the hospital [presumably waiting for Lucy], Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) reassures him that everything is going to be okay. But Trevor (Greg Ellis) tells them there is a problem. Phil gave a statement that contradicts him. Someone named Denny Lange had access to Trevor’s database. Martin is ready to disappear but Trevor tells him to go home. A battered Lucy (Maria Bello) walks out of the hospital. Jake writes 0175 in the window of the car.

While driving home, Martin sees a floral van whose phone number was 310-555-0175. Follow that van!

There it is: “Jake, stay in the car.” [This has become an affectionate joke among Twitter fandom, either that or “Jake get out of the car.” It’s Tony Rigby’s house but Calvin is there. Calvin tells them Tony murdered his mother and took Amelia. Calvin has a directory to all the high-level facilities that Aster Corps has at his place. [Red throw blanket over the couch; red pamphlet on table next to laptop.]

In his red jacket, Jake wanders in the loft to an experiment area. Martin freaks when he sees him with the thing on his head. Calvin said he could hurt him shutting it down. Calvin sees Wernicke and Broca waves are beginning to oscillate. He’s getting ready to speak.

Jake turns up in Amelia’s safe place in her head. Jake says to Amelia, “I found you.” Jake hears Lucy in the background to tell Amelia she loves her, which he repeats to Amelia. Tell her that we’re coming for her.” Lucy asks him to find out any details about where they are. Amelia tells him.

He writes 1997 1188. Martin gets it. 1188 belonged to Teller. Calvin says may have given him the information he needed to help his brother.

Calvin goes to William (David Hoflin). A 17-year-old named Evie (Katherine McNamara) pops in to say hello and offer her services. She wants to be a neurosurgeon one day. Suddenly, William is back to himself, talking and moving around. William wants to know what happened.

Lucy, Martin and Jake go to Amelia. There was some time for Martin and Lucy to talk about Lucy’s old life, like her profession. The car breaks down. They stop a truck and for $200 he will deliver them to the place they need to go (in the middle of nowhere). This man is Jerry Woods (John Lacy),the estranged father of Evie, the young lady with Calvin. As they survey the area, Jake lets out a primal scream to alert the guards. Martin realizes that was his plan after all. Martin runs into the path of the security guards asking them for their help. Martin may have them convinced and they take him away.

However, he winds up in a cell at the facility. Passing by, Kase hears Martin’s pleas to the guard. Martin and Kase come face to face. Kase was hired by Calvin’s mother to care for Amelia more so than being Calvin’s assistant. Kase said they will kill him if he tells Martin where Amelia is. Martin forcefully persuades Kase to show him.

Calvin and William speak about times in the past. William recalls the details of the accident. There were some very emotional scenes where Calvin blamed himself for the accident and William knew he was moving mountains to save him. [It made Calvin not so much of a bad guy.]

Jake and Lucy break into the area with vehicles. Lucy pulls out key 6908 and Jake takes out the other keys and drops them into a grate. Jake grabs the electronic key, puts it on the windshield and runs to a door.

The guard knows Martin is gone. Tony Rigby is there. Martin meets Amelia. She skips the pleasantries and tells them they have to leave. Tony knows she is gone from her room.

Amelia says that they need to block out the cameras and Martin follows. Kase moved away from them. Amelia tells Martin they will overload the system. Tony recognizes Martin Bishop (aka Martin Bohm) when the cameras catch him before the lights go out.

Amelia knows exactly where Jake and her mom are. A guard pops into the garage. Martin sees the key Jake left for them. When the second guard comes in and they notice the keys are gone, Martin and Amelia leave. License plate on the Jeep is 6IRA337.

Amelia tells Martin to stop at a particular place. Lucy pops out of a bush. A happy reunion commences. All four of them get into the Jeep and drive away.

An anonymous woman (Mrs. Farrington, actress Frances Fisher from Eureka) tells Tony she is sending “Tanner” (D.B. Sweeney) which is upsetting to Tony.

Martin wants Lucy and Amelia to disappear. Lucy agrees. Martin cares a lot for Lucy and they have an emotional good-bye and share a more-than-friends kiss.

Jake gives Amelia her red car from the center in New York (season 1 reference). Amelia gives Jake something to give to Martin.

Evie wakes Calvin. William has regressed. A distraught Calvin yells at her and tells her to leave. Evie cries on the bench outside, but her father arrives at the perfect time.

Jake narrates: “We each have a path. Some are forced apart, but flow back together, their synchronicity inescapable. Some paths touch only briefly and glance off in different directions, forever changed by the meeting. Some loop back again and again across time and space, always finding each other.

Lucy drives off with Amelia into the sunset. But there is blackness on the horizon.

[I have been aware that Maria Bello wanted ‘out’ of the show, but I always assumed it was at the end of the season. I also know she was pleased how her storyline ended. All at once I am worried this is the end of Amelia and Lucy. But my mind is screaming, “This can’t be now! This can’t be it!” At the same time I’m trying to think, “How were they found? Did Lucy’s car get GPS’d? Did they inject a tracking device on Amelia the second time she was taken?” Logic would dictate since Martin is driving one of their cars, he would be the one they locate first.]

Jake continues: “Once we’re on our path there are limited chances to deviate, small moments when other forces come into play and knocks you off your trajectory. Mrs. Farrington tells Tanner she only wants Amelia–her mother is a liability. [Oh shit! It is going to end here for Lucy but how? Does Amelia get away or is she recaptured?]

Amelia has already calculated all possible outcomes. I presume she knows in all outcomes her mother is going to die and there is only one outcome where she escapes but her mother does not [at this point I start sobbing…a mother would die for her child].

Amelia starts running.  Jake: “What could be powerful enough to change your path, change your future? An act of nature, an act of love.” Lucy gets out of the truck and confronts Aster Corps, Tony Rigby. As Amelia runs, she hears a gunshot (Tony Rigby and the gunman, Cooper [Gonzalo Menendez).

Jake: “Once this deviation happens, you find yourself on a new path, uncharted, unknown, stretching out ahead of you.”

[Dead silence from me–I never expected that at all!]





Touch (S1E7) Noosphere Rising

(Recap of a season 1 episode in preparation for Season 2 of “Touch” beginning Friday, February 8, 2013)

One has to ask the question, “What is a noosphere?” Loosely defined, it is collective consciousness. Indeed, Jake narrates at the beginning that prayer is a collective request sent up in unison of shared hope. Numbers are a constant until they are not.

Clea (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) reviews the footage of Professor Teller’s (Danny Glover) visit. There is missing time outside of room 6 until he brings Jake (David Mazouz) the car back. Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) asks Jake if Teller gave him anything, and while playing cards, the visitor’s badge and key falls out of the deck with 1188 inscribed. It’s a dead-man’s hand, a poker thing (the show took liberties of making it any suit, but normally it is a two-paired poker hand that consists of black aces and eights along with a “hole” card; this was the hand reportedly held by Wild Bill Hickok before he was shot.

The B-plot story is about Natalie’s (Amelia Rose Blaire) video blog. Daryl, her boyfriend, broke up with her, but she decided to go to Europe anyway (flight 225). While in Paris, she was ready to go to another country when she finds a red flash drive. She is also wearing red earrings and red shoes. Being an Italian history major, she was able to translate the message on the flash drive to Celeste from Paolo (Alberto Frezza). All he knows is that she is going to be in New York City on March 28 for her birthday and he sends a video message to meet at Cafe Kismet at 7 p.m. This is Natalie’s blog post #1188. This becomes a campaign to find Celeste.

Maggie, Teller’s daughter (Deidrie Henry), and Martin officially meet. She remembers him from the hospital and the funeral. Maggie and Martin talk about Jake, her father’s theories, and that Maggie was his assistant. She was worried about Teller and followed me and he went to a basement on Third and Allan.

Abigail Kelsey (Catherine Dent) goes to visit Jake and gives him her company’s latest computer tablet not yet released to the public. I instantly do not like her.

At the basement, Martin tries the key but it does not work. However, he is told that if he wants “in” it will be $1000. Martin returns with it which buys him into a poker game and he meets Stacey (Angela Gots), the dealer.

Meanwhile in Australia, a father leaves 1188 hectares of Groton Valley Station to his son, Devon Michael Jones (Sean McGowan). But he has to ride his horse, Zeus, first. Devon is a math professor In New Jersey (with Logan, see below). Eventually Zeus lets him ride him once Devon has broken down about his feelings about his father. He gives the ranch to Zeke (Robert Pike Daniel), his father’s friend.

Natalie is shocked at the 20,521 video responses. Among those are the Happy Pop Twins (remember them? Our Japanese travelers, Miyoko (May Miata) and Izumi (Satomi Okuno) from earlier episodes). And through them, Natalie has found a new band to like, “The Morticians.” Natalie suggests that they should all meet there for Paolo in case Celeste does not show to support him. Everything should wear the color red. It’s the “I Believe in Love” Team.

Clea shows Jake how he can use the icons on the device to speak. Instead, he goes to a solitaire game (where we see 2 aces and 2 eights).

Martin plays poker. Stacey asks him if he is “another math guy.” Martin has aces and eights but loses. When cashing out an opposing player, on the $200 mark, there is a $20 that says Logan loves Stacey; Martin follows her outside. Professor Logan Coteweiler (Eyal Podell) is a math professor. He won $200,000 in week 6 of his experiment. The house thinks she was in on it so she has to pay it off.

Back at Stanford House, Abigail informs Clea and Martin that she has filed to be Jake’s legal guardian. Jake is looking at an article written by Dr. Logan Coteweiler on 1188. Abigail is trying to buy her way inside by offering tablets to all the children with special needs at the school. She informs Clea she has come back “to protect him.”

Martin finds Logan on the floor. After calling 9/11, he finds his cell and calls this “Devon” person. Devon informs Martin that Logan is diabetic and his insulin is in the refrigerator. He starts waking up.

Celeste has been found “sort of.” A picture of her was located on a cell phone circling the globe (see episode 1).

Logan loves Stacey. He was using Teller’s Amelia sequence, which he calls it like the mind of God, which turns Schrödinger equation, which is a partial differential equation that express how the quantum state of some physical systems change with time. The Amelia sequence ties the past and the present and the future together. Martin tells him what happened to Stacey. In order for Martin to find where the key fits, Logan tells Martin he has to buy into a high-stakes poker game to win the money to get Stacey out of trouble. Logan tells Martin to follow his cues, but Martin listens to his own and wins on aces and eights.

Logan gives the money back to Stacey at Cafe Kismet. Martin receives change of a $20 and it is the bill that says Logan loves Stacey on it. She is not ready to talk to him about that. He tells Martin that the red door will lead him to Teller’s research.

Natalie is also outside Cafe Kismet where Martin walks across her video screen. Natalie is overwhelmed by the response and the people who came. Paolo is there, but he is not looking any longer for Celeste; he is there for Natalie. GOOSEBUMPS! I’m such a sucker for love.

Stacey eventually meets with Logan at Cafe Kismet. Celeste found her true love. Natalie and Paolo spend time together. Clea sees the picture of Amelia on the missing video footage.

And Martin finds the door that the 1188 key opens. He adds to the sequence, but FLICK FLUB, he forgets to put a “6” after the 975 and before the 1188.

Touch (S1E6) Lost and Found Recap

(Getting caught up on my recaps for the Season 2 start to Touch on Friday, February 8, 2013)

This was one of my favorite episodes as it signaled a turning point. Clea (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) moved past being the nagging person who admonished Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) for not being the parent he needed to be in order to keep custody of Jake (David Mazouz). Mystery begins to develop around “The Amelia Sequence.” Is Teller on to something or is it simply a brain event linked to an aneurysm or stroke? I have a brain aneurysm and have never had anything like that before. Who is Amelia? Who are the people who belong to the group that Teller keeps referring to as “them?” But most of all, it had one of my favorite actresses from Fringe, Michelle Krusiec, who granted me an interview.

Now onto the show itself: During the narration, Jake refers to the North Star, Polaris, as our anchor. It is at 89 degrees, 15 minutes and 50.8 seconds. It is a constant, a fixed point.

Opening sequence: A woman gets a phone call with obvious bad news and looks over at a couple with a baby. A man looks at “Lamont Properties/Queens Plaza North” on his computer. A couple reports a missing son. Clea stands on a bridge where a train rushes by. Martin wakes up from a dream of a smiling, happy Jake who jumps off a swing and into his arms only to see Jake standing over him. Jake is playing with a red car.

While reviewing Jake’s case with center-director Sheri (Roxana Brusso), Clea gets a call that her mom (Carlease Burke) is in Victory Hospital. Teller asks Martin for the numbers Jake has given him thus far. Martin starts, “3, 18, 52, 96…” and Teller finishes, “32, 87, 95, 22, 975.” It’s apparently “The Amelia Sequence.” It connects everything with everyone. Teller explains that he was told he had an aneurysm but he disagrees. He would like to see Jake that day. Martin says no, but Teller finds his old visitor’s pass to Stanford House.

Lanny Zheng (Michelle Krusiec) is at the airport and sits next to the Lamont Properties guy, Will Davies (David Julian Hirsh). She is booked on Pan Horizon Airways from JFK to Omaha at gate 77, Flight 975. He is on stand-by.

Martin brings a lost bag from JFK to the home of the missing boy, Andy. His dad, Mr. McNichols, (Diego Serrano) looks down at Andy’s red tricycle.

Clea goes to the hospital to see her mom; it’s been 6 years since she has. Clea’s mom is schizophrenic and does not recognize Clea. She takes about another child, “My baby’s at home” and the woman runs out.

At the Stanford House, Teller (Danny Glover) says he is there for a consult to get past the front desk to covertly see Jake. Jake is painting the numbers 975 on his easel and Jake has been expecting Professor Teller.

The police officer said that the mom was trying to steal cough medicine. Clea says her mother tried to take a child from a playground a few years ago. Martin walks in with a delivery for Dr. Williams. Clea is surprised to see him. They overhear news reports about Andy being missing. He was wearing a red baseball cap and has a cold.

Will is questioning his purpose today. He says he feels guilty for telling his bosses about some great real estate property, a famous building they are now tearing down to put up a skyscraper. He asks Lanny if she has ever wondered that. Lanny replies that her parents would say that it is procreation, carrying on the family name. TSA asks Lanny to come with them as her luggage went missing. Will apparently takes the seat she will no longer occupy. Before that happens though, he gives her his business card and writes on the back of it, “I O U.”

Toy cars apparently were Amelia’s favorite things. You hear Sheri come in and say, “Teller is here!” The next number in the sequence is “6.”

At the hospital, Martin gets an Amber Alert on his phone, which is case #975, for Andy. Martin convinces Clea to trust him. They are going to have to find the mother and Andy themselves.

Will wakes up in a field, attached to an airplane seat. The plane has crashed and he is apparently the only survivor. He takes his briefcase and starts walking, all the way back to his office. In a few hours, the old building will be blown up.

Lanny goes home to her partner, Serena (Camille Chen), and she is consulting a medium named “George” (Boyuen). Lanny asks why the medium is there. None of Serena’s embryos were viable. The medium said one of their dead ancestors was upset. Lanny thinks it is a pile of BS.

Using a map, Martin wanted Clea to point to where her mom used to go. Some backstory on Clea emerges: She was only 8 when she was taken from social services from her mom. She recognizes Queensboro Plaza. Clea tells Martin of a woman who got hit by a car there who had her mother’s cell phone. Martin says he witnessed that accident.

Teller goes to door 6, the one Jake was hanging around in a previous episode, thinking Amelia is there; however, he thinks he sees her in the hallway in a wheelchair connected to an IV. Teller is discovered. He accuses Sheri of being “part of it.” He asks her if she was promises money and fame” as he was.

Clea remembers her mother screaming on the tracks to try to silence the voices in her head. She spots a star made in concrete that her mom drew as a roadmap in case she ever got lost (reference to the north star that Jake narrates at the beginning). It serves to jog Clea’s memory and another landmark jogs another memory. Clea remembers the crest of the building. They find out the place is going to be blown up for a demolition drop in 10 minutes.

Teller gets into his car. It won’t turn over and he begins to see 9, 7, 5, 6 on his odometer and then sees all the numbers in a euphoric-like moment.

Will goes to his boss, Lamont (Matt McCoy). He said they go into the poorest neighborhoods, drive down the prices, and then pave it all over. What they do is wrong. The building should have been a museum since all the jazz greats were there. He is not going to let that happen. He told his boss he had to do something that mattered TODAY. Then he turns around and walks out with blood drops dotting his trail. His boss does see it. Will arrives to the scene about the same time Clea and Martin do. He runs to the building.

Lanny talks to Serena about her true feelings about having kids right now. Serena tells her she cannot wait much longer. Lanny’s cell phone keeps ringing. When she finally does answer, it is someone inquiring if she was on the flight that crashed.

Clea and Martin search and find her mother. Talking to her mother about memories of their time in that building helps her mom remember just for a time. She lost Andy. She had taken him to a park. Clea thanks Will for saving his mother’s life. Martin goes running off to the park. The foreman sees Will is bleeding, but it is too late for him; he collapses and dies. Clea sees his ticket for flight 975.

Martin hears the squeaking sound similar to his dream about Jake coming from the red swing seat at the park. Then he hears Andy’s coughing. The dream now makes sense to him.

Serena thanks the spirits. Lanny changes her mind about children after this near-death experience. Lanny points out that they could use her eggs. Serena says because Lanny was born in the Year of the Dragon, they need to pair her with a snake. The picture from NuLife Fertility Clinic is that of our friend, Will, and she takes out the card he gave to her. It looks like she believes in fate by the end.

Clea believes in Jake’s abilities now. She tells Martin he is a great father. Martin looks at the book and sees that Jake has added a 6. People run down the hall and out to the parking garage and Martin and Clea follow. Teller is dead.

Touch Recap: Safety In Numbers

(A bit behind so I’ll keep these brief so I can be current before the season finale). I thought I’d try writing this up in arcs, but since they are interconnected, it makes that difficult. Also thought I would maybe sum up the last 6 episodes but that was not going to work, so back to the old format.

This episode’s important number was 3287 and what is up with door #6 at the Board and Care?

The opening starts with a reflective thought of evolution, “If a species wants to survive, it has to prove it deserves to.” Jake (David Mazouz) talks about how fire ants can hold onto each other like a living raft waiting for the water to recede and how did that all begin that they knew to do that?

At The Claremont, address 3287, a man (Rob Benedict) places a paper at the door. Another man picks it up. Jake is sitting at the door with the number 6 on it (room 122 on the placard). Jake narrating the dialogue lines: “What if you were the one who knew what needed to be done but you had no words? How do you make the others understand? How do you call for help? ”

We’ve been experiencing this with my son. He is nonverbal. We try a communication system. He seems to have this burst of learning. Then he refuses to use it, and it leaves him. First it was sign language, then others in between, and last year, it was with a program called Proloquo2go (pronounced PRO-LOW-QUO-TWO-GO) for the IPhone/IPad. He seemed to just excel in it, and now he gets agitated whenever we ask him to use it to communicate. He can’t ask for help. All he can do is communicate through behavior. Let’s just say he has been VERY LOUD the last few months.

Back to Touch, Jake places a call to Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) who hears static on the phone but knows Jake needs him. Like a Bat Signal. Martin opens the door to Jake’s room, but he’s gone. They find Jake at door 6. Jake stuffs the paper into Martin’s coat and returns to his room, but gives him direct, sustained eye contact (something Jake does not do). The picture is a dragon.

Martin visits Professor Arthur Teller (Danny Glover). Martin asked if he would spend his life chasing down numbers for Jake. Teller reminded Martin that Jake feels the pain of these threads, real physical pain. The professor warns that Jake has a higher purpose and he won’t be the only one that notices (foreshadow for future episodes).

Meanwhile in Soweto, South Africa, Grace (user name Grace22) (actress Yetide Badaki) takes a career aptitude and placement test (Version 1.6) in her village. Her ID to complete the test is 3287. Baruti (Darrell Luke) tells Grace she needs to leave her friend, Sauda (Khanya Mkhize), and take a job in the city. A young boy watches from the window. The two boys, Thabo (Dante Brown) and Farai (Kwesi Boakye) put a bottle cap in the window. I’m guessing they intend to go back later.

The Worldwide Dance Battle is on the TV at the Center and Jake focuses in on it. The audience would be picking a winner.

A woman in a red dress (Olesya Rulin) goes through security at the dance battle. She is supposed to meet someone outside a tent. The security guy (Brett Wagner) is very kind to her.

A taxi hits a homeless woman who we are led to think is Clea’s mom (Taxi 4R21) in front of Martin. The man from the beginning of the show steals a book she has. A nurse comes to attend to the woman (Marci Michelle). Martin runs after him.

Meanwhile the Beastmaster (Stephen “tWitch’ Boss) is on the stage, dancing to “I’m Sexy and I Know It.” I adore tWitch from So You Think You Can Dance. He is among my top 20 favorite dances ever on the show (especially the one with Alex). I digress.

Back in Soweto, a violent man named Fumbe (Ike Onuoha) is with Grace’s friend Sauda. Fumbe has beaten her. Grace wants her to leave. Fumbe freaks and strikes Grace to the ground.

Martin catches up with “The Invisible Prince.” He shows Martin that the book is his; the woman stole it from him. The book is similar to what Jake gave Martin in his pocket. The Prince is just like Jake but he can speak and is an adult. He tells Martin, “The dragon is loose.” Was Martin looking at this man concerned that Jake would go insane as he aged?

Jake is playing with the red car again. Clea (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is doing RFFC’s with him (applied behavior analysis term for receptive by feature, function, class). She takes the car to try to get Jake to give her eye contact. He grabs the car, giving her a side glance only, and walks downstairs to door 6 again. He slides the car under the door.

The kids in South Africa have aspirations. They want to compete in this internet dance battle.

The Prince is upset that he almost missed changing a light at a corner for a woman to cross without waiting (Kate Fuglei). He then goes and buys a red flower and puts it on the bus bench for a different woman (Janeline Hayes). The Prince pauses in front of The Claremont for a moment before moving on. He tells Martin that he tried to slay the dragon with a magic sword but failed. He offered it to The King and he buried it deep within the Mountain of Clare (I’m guessing The Claremont) behind a wall of stones. The final battle was tonight. Then the two women arrive at their destination together in a building with a red dragon sign on the outside: Morton Starling Finances.

Izumi (Satomi Okuno) and Miyoko (May Miyata) from Japan are at the Coachella Valley festival because The Morticians will be playing. They’ve been in the running thread since the pilot. They converse with the girl in the red dress using a translator app on 2 phones (one translating to English what they said in Japanese; the other translating her English to Japanese). Clever! Apparently the red-dressed girl got stood up by a guy she met online (imagine that). The Morticians will be playing in 15 minutes, so they leave, but one phone is left behind. This is the phone that has been roaming the world since the pilot episode in January.

The women who the Prince was connecting had a conversation at the elevator to which Martin listens. They are plaintiffs in some class-action suit and they are about to settle. They talk about “Roger King” and Martin knows that name. Martin pretends he is representing Roger King to go to the meeting. A journalist, Rush Middleton (Graham Hamilton), who was a former colleague that Martin would request bring him coffee, saw Martin and thought he was there in a journalistic capacity. Martin thinks he can get Roger King to talk, so Rush gives him the address: 3287 Avondale (Just FYI, The Claremont’s real address in NYC is 229 East 12th Street, New York, NY 10003).

Clea asks Sheri (Roxana Brusso) about room 6; Sheri says it is empty. A phone call from 212-920-6922 (reverse white pages says this is a phone number, a landline in the Bronx) comes in to Clea’s phone. It is her mother. When she answers, she is told her mother is in the hospital.

Martin goes to The Claremont. Charlie King (Vince Grant) Roger’s son, tells him Roger is dead. When Martin says, “The Invisible Prince” an open door awaits. The Invisible Prince was a bedtime story that Roger used to tell. The Invisible Prince had to do good deeds in secret or they would not count. Charles says Walt (the Prince) was a genius at numbers and produced a financial system that made Morton Starling billions. Charlie’s son Matt (Elijah Nelson) is also watching the internet dance battle. He was “The Domin8tor”. Because he bowed out of the competition so Charlie and Martin could do some internet research, it led to an opening for 4Soweto. But I’m getting ahead of myself. (Just FYI, the web address on the computer is not a real site). From the “Invisible Prince” story, Charlie says it was the magic sword of truth.

Clea’s mom apparently is schizophrenic (supposedly; I’m wondering if she isn’t like Jake). She asks the nurse if the woman was hit by the taxis near the tracks at Queensboro Plaza. The nurse (Deidrie Henri) says yes. Her mother is in room 5290, but ta-da, it’s not her mother. The woman stole her mother’s phone.

Sheri recognizes Teller at the Board and Care. Teller asks for a tour because he is considering placing a patient there. She obliges a short tour.

Martin finds a box requiring a combination, but Charlie does not know it. The audience knows 3287 will open that lockbox. Documents that were never previously opened are in there–the magic sword of truth. It’s now 5:43 p.m. and Martin has to RUN to get to the New York Herald–16 minutes to go 22 blocks. If this is possible is if this is a north-south street or an east/west avenue in New York City because the lengths are different. A 20-block street equals about a mile. And that’s not counting traffic lights.

Jake begins to hum and catches the attention of Sheri who thinks he is in pain or something. Teller observes. It gets louder. Sauda is being beaten in Soweto and is screaming. Martin is running. Grace rhythmically drugs on a pot. Jake is screaming (to what Clea previously described about her mother screaming when the trains rushed by that scared the crap out of her). The women in Soweto come out with their pots and rhythmically drum in solidarity to support Sauda.

Thabo did not show up, so Farai dances instead. The crowd goes wild. They show room 6 again. The red car gets pushed back out into the hallway. Sheri lied about it being empty.

Walt King wrote a memo showing Morton Starling the flaws in his financial model design and the company exploited it to make millions. Rush does not understand Martin’s intention. Martin replies that it was the same reason he told him to get him coffee everyday–because he knew Rush would be a great reporter. Rush offers Martin a by-line, but Martin refuses, saying it would be their little secret, otherwise it would not count.

The girl in the red dress meets the Beastmaster who just lost to the 10-year-old in the dance competition. They bond over the videos from the cell phone that has traveled the world.

Martin meets up with Walt and tells him they fixed the thread. The Invisible Prince then knights Martin as the Invisible Knight. Martin relays a message that Charlie and his family welcome him to come home any time he wants.

A montage begins: Clea sees the red car in the hallway and knows Sheri lied. Teller creates a file on Jake. The reporter on TV (Craig Stepp) shows that Main Street won out over Wall Street. The 2 women from the lawsuit toast their victory.

The Invisible Prince watches his brother and his family come home to the Mountain of Clare, his face showing the longing to be with them but knowing he has a greater purpose to fulfill. Sauda is taking a computer test to be able to move to the city with Grace and rise above the domestic violence. Martin tucks Jake into his bed donned with red sheets and a comforter of red with white circles (patterns). Clea returns Jake’s red car to him. Clea sees herself in Martin’s actions and promises to be more understanding.

Martin starts a bedtime story for Jake about The Invisible Knight who served The Silent King and together they helped people they did not even know were there. And The Silent King closed his eyes and went to Dreamland.

What I adore about this show is the thoughtfulness they put into providing clues for us. Like the eye contact Jake gave Martin to communicate how important this task was. The running theme of the color red–the car, the flower, the dress, Jake’s sheets/comforter, the red dragon logo on the company’s building. When we were first working with Patrick, we noticed he stopped on the color red of his One Fish, Two Fish book. The group of people working with him asked, “How can we use the color red to help him?” They came up with these thoughts: Use red lipstick so that he will look at your lips when you are speaking. Eat something red (popsicle or lollypop) so he can see movement of the tongue. Use red to put near your eyes so he will give greater eye contact. But I think the show is emphasizing the red string of fate. I wonder if Jakes gets any peace from the pain in the dream state. What I think they can improve upon is uberfans who adored Lost for the same reason: The clues, trying to figure out the larger story. Perhaps they can put more real-life clues into the show. For example, on “24” one of the times they had a cell phone number, fans from 24 actually called the number and got a message from the actors. What if one of the numbers could provide the uberfan with additional exclusive clues that they would not get anywhere else. Lost created a whole web presence built about its mythos. I think the producers of Touch should do the same. It helps us to experience the show on a different level than just viewing. It is about participating and making the global connections.
