Heads….will…roll! This show will make ‘headlines’ when it premieres! When it comes to the Headless Horseman, jokes like these will be abundant. What is no joke is this show. The first episode lays out exactly what this show is about and where it plans to take you. In order to create the series, this version of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow deviates from the original story quite a bit, but that does not take anything away from the drama and suspense. The storytelling in the first episode is tight.
Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) wakes up in our time. The Headless Horseman (Richard Cetrone) is here, too. Their bond was forged in blood. Can you imagine waking up 250 years later and everything that has changed? There are roads, computers, the internet, abolition of slavery, and Starbucks! The “B” story in this is all the wonders Ichabod discovers and his reactions to them. He joins forces with a woman police officer, Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), who reports to Captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones). The first episode also features Clancy Brown who plays Sheriff August Corbin and John Cho who plays Andy Dunn. After seeing the first episode, I am going to predict that this will be similar to “The Following” where you just cannot count on many people being safe with the exception of the leads of Crane and the Headless Horseman.
If you love mystery and intrigue sprinkled in with elements of the supernatural, a battle being forces of good and evil that are leading to the apocalypse, this show should be on your radar for the fall. It premieres on Fox on Monday, September 15, 2013 9 PM Eastern/8 PM Central time.
My thanks once again to Fox Broadcasting and the FOX VIP program for the privilege of watching the pilot episode.
