The Mindy Project: “The One That Got Away” Preview
25 02 2013This episode of THE MINDY PROJECT is everything Dr. Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) loves in a romance movie–a strong male and female lead and two people who were destined to be together. Seth Rogen makes a guest star appearance as Sam, the boy who got away from her at Lake Takanac, the only summer camp her parents would allow her to attend as a teenager. I had the lyrics from Grease playing in my head the whole time: Summer lovin’ had me a blast; summer lovin’ happened so fast; I met a girl crazy for me; met a boy, cute as can be.” We also learn the pitfalls of self-scanners and that Dr. Danny Castellano (Chris Messina) is scared of “Game of Thrones.” Meanwhile, Dr. Castellano finds himself the center of an unusual request.
Watch the all-new “The One That Got Away” episode of THE MINDY PROJECT airing Tuesday, Feb. 26 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Special congratulations to Chris Messina’s film “Argo” that won the Oscar for Best Picture on Sunday night.
My thanks again to FOX VIP and Fox Broadcasting who gave me the opportunity to watch the screener.

The Mindy Project: “Harry and Mindy” Preview
3 02 2013Dr. Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) is a hopeful romantic. If there were any holiday on the calendar that belongs to her, it would be Valentine’s Day where she dreams of her soul mate proposing to her on top of the Empire State Building like in countless movies she has seen growing up. Every person she dates is someone she wonders, “Is he THE ONE?” Her current boyfriend, Jamie (BJ Novak) is very distracted by his female best friend, Lucy, (Eva Amurri Martino). Mindy decides to pair Dr. Danny Castellano (Chris Messina) with Lucy and things do not go quite as planned. Meanwhile Dr. Jeremy Reed (Ed Weeks) tries to help Morgan Tookers (Ike Barinholtz) with his dating skills. He is definitely out of practice because he was in prison prior to this and likely did not have many dates.
The all-new “Harry & Mindy” episode of THE MINDY PROJECT airs Tuesday, Feb. 5 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
My thanks to Fox Broadcasting and the FOX VIP program for the privilege of watching the screener.

Fox Tuesday Tonight
2 10 2012Last week, wedged between two new episodes of NEW GIRL, BEN AND KATE, and THE MINDY PROJECT pulled decent numbers in the ratings considering that these episodes were readily available on-line for weeks before the premiere to generate interest. Tonight, Raising Hope returns to the line-up.
Once again, thanks to the FOX VIP program, I was able to screen tonight’s episodes of BEN AND KATE and THE MINDY PROJECT.
Alan Ruck guest stars tonight on BEN AND KATE‘s episode called “Bad Cop/Bad Cop” as the principal of Maddie’s school. There is a scene that cracked me up where Ben (Nat Faxon) does an impression of a voice that sounds like Alan Ruck’s impression of his call to the principal as Cameron Frye in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Kate (Dakota Johnson) has been lying about where she lives so Maddie (Maggie Elizabeth Jones) can get into a better public school, the parents of their friend, Tommy (Echo Kellum). Ben says, “May I remind you that you are a guest in your own home?” BEN AND KATE airing Tuesday, Oct. 2 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
On THE MINDY PROJECT, Mindy (Mindy Lahiri) and Danny (Chris Messina) interview for a new nurse in the practice, leaving Jeremy (Ed Weeks) to use his charms to fire the current nurse, Beverly (Beth Grant), in an aptly named episode, “Hiring and Firing.” I especially loved the name of one of the people interviewed, named Morgan “Ransom” Tookers (Ike Barinholtz), a reformed ex-convict. Ransom may seem to be a weird name, but I swear to you on my mother’s grave I have a neighbor whose name is Ransom and his dog’s name is Dexter. I have videotape of Dexter trying to jump our fence to get at my golden retriever, Maddie. THE MINDY PROJECT airing Tuesday, Oct. 2 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
And don’t forget RAISING HOPE returns tonight as well, rounding out the Fox Comedy Tuesday block.
